It won’t commonly be thought of as the funnest game in the realm of gaming, but keno has massive amounts of zealous supporters. And it should! It’s a routinely entertaining lotto-esque game that’s a snap to master, readily available in lots of alternate styles, and one that may yield millions of dollars for players who master its endless subtle intricacies. But let’s start with the basics for now.

When defining keno to beginners, some gaming masters compare it to the lottery. This is at least nearly apt, in that each game is basically numerical. Yet to carry that comparison too far will be to discount the great many unique traits that make keno so exciting. Not like bingo, keno users have the freedom to select the numbers for each card.

Keno cards have a total of eighty numbers, but the user is given an additional level of personal responsibility by being able to choose as numerous (or as few) numbers as he desires. And it doesn’t take a super genius to determine how to fill out a card: all you do is circle or otherwise mark each of your handpicked numbers with a good oldmarker like you used when you were a kid.

After you have picked your numbers, take your keno card back to the keno pit manager at the keno booth. The clerk will record your numbers and then hand you a receipt. Do not misplace this (potentially) expensive bit of paper! Even if the keno pit manager remembers your pretty face and wants help out, without a winning receipt with you, you will win exactly $.00 for your efforts.

OK, so there you have strategy #1: always take care to keep your keno receipt. Let’s go on to something a bit more complicated, ok?

Once you’ve selected your numbers, get yourself into a nice keno booth and observe the action happen on the screen. This is where the winning numbers are displayed for all to see. If you checked winning numbers, mark your card appropriately. Make sure not to dilly dally, or sit there congratulating yourself for an obnoxious length of time. You are required to get up to the keno booth to get your winnings, as a new keno game will surely start within five minutes.

Strategy number 2: always go back to the keno booth on time!

Assuming you can not trust yourself to meet that 5 minute margin each time, you always retain the option of using a "multi-race" ticket. These include the same set of your handpicked numbers on anywhere from 2 to 20 slips. When the maximum amount of keno games (fitting the number of tickets) is played, you should then get off your lazy bum and go get your winnings.

Another opportunity is known as a "stray and play" keno slip, which usually allows you make number selection for thirty rounds or more. Heck, you can take an ocean cruise and not have to worry about getting back in time to get your numbers. Most "stray and play" slips are good for up to a whole year after purchase!

So now you have learned several necessary techniques for winning keno. If you are a good player, they might seem quite obvious. But it does not hurt to bone up on the fundamentals, and if you are a beginner user, every little bit of direction will help make your keno playing time more entertaining.
